MONTREAL, April 13, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - UNLIMITED, a company specializing in the production of Virtual Reality (VR) experiences, announces the start of the production of Trinity, the first live-action interactive film project shot in virtual reality. Unlimited is partnering with Canadian Media Fund (CMF) and Rex Media Capital on this highly innovative production.
"Virtual reality is an amazing new medium, a complete platform shift really. It compares to the dawn of cinema and television or more recently, the internet. That's how huge it will be." said John Hamilton, President and Co-founder of UNLIMITED (Co-founder and ex-Co-president of Seville Pictures, eOne Entertainment). "To ensure we create the most amazing VR experience possible, we've brought together some of the best talents from both the cinema and video game industries."
Trinity: innovation in a growing market
With Trinity, UNLIMITED becomes a pioneer in the production of VR content in a market that is expected to expand rapidly. "Once we saw the potential of what we could create with VR, we set out to build new camera technology and develop innovative techniques for filming," said Sebastien Gros, VP Technology and Co-founder of the firm. "The interactive and immersive aspects we've designed for Trinity are cutting-edge in both the field of VR and in filmmaking technology."
Google, Samsung, Microsoft, Sony and HTC have just announced the product launches of their VR devices. According to Fortune Magazine, sales of new headsets are predicted to exceed 12 million units in 2016 alone. Analysts are comparing this with the emergence of the mobile game industry 8 years ago, which is now evaluated at $26 billion. The exploding market for virtual reality content represents a golden opportunity for UNLIMITED and TRINITY.
Trinity: a dream come true
Trinity will allow users to enjoy a unique immersive experience, a sci-fi adventure set in a futuristic world where each decision will affect the course of events. "We are very excited about the cinematic potential of VR. It was really just a question of bringing together the right creative partners and technology for Trinity. There's never been anything like it. It's going to blow people's minds." said Robert Boulos, VP Operations and Co-founder of UNLIMITED.
Trinity will be available in December 2016 on various major online stores: Google Play, iTunes, Samsung, Microsoft, Sony and Oculus.
