The distinguished recipient of Fiatech’s prestigious James B. Porter Jr. Award for Technology Innovation has been recognized

AUSTIN, TX, April 7, 2016 – Fiatech’s Celebration of Technology & Innovation (CETI) Awards Gala was held on April 5, the second day of the Fiatech Technology Conference & Showcase, at the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort & Spa near Austin, Texas. The CETI’s celebrate emerging technologies, innovation in research & development, and also lead up to the highly anticipated James B. Porter, Jr. Award for Technology Leadership.

The Porter Award recognizes an individual or organization that best embodies Jim Porter's vision, leadership, technical acumen, commitment to people, his tireless efforts to advance the capital projects industry, and to see that goals of Fiatech came to fruition.

With great enthusiasm, Jim Purvis, chair of the Fiatech Board of Advisors, made the announcement that this year’s unanimous visionary selected for embodying the spirit of James B. Porter, was J. Peter Blake. As the first to comment, Purvis said, “Peter demonstrates, to all of us, the success that can be achieved through driving innovation and using technology to improve project success.   Peter’s long involvement with Fiatech has been a great benefit to our organization; his stature in the EPC community brought us credibility and his vision has focused our delivery of tangible benefits for the EPC community.  I have served with Peter as board member and now Board Chair for the past few years and Peter’s involvement has provided a useful connection to the past as well as a spring board to the future.”

Ray Topping, Fiatech’s Director added that, “Peter has an ability to focus on the key issues and speak with clarity on the benefits and results to be achieved. With his ideas and energy he provides all of us with motivation and confidence that great things are not just something to be dreamed of, they are achievable and within our reach. Peter embodies the vision of Jim Porter and Fiatech, to advance technology and innovation in the capital projects industry producing improvements and breakthroughs in productivity and efficiency.”

Upon accepting the award, Peter shared that he recently had the opportunity to meet James Porter making this honor even more meaningful.

Peter served as the Director of the Hatch Project Delivery Group and led numerous committees at Fiatech, including service as the Board of Advisors Chair.
