ZGF ARCHITECTS NAMES TWO NEW PARTNERS

Portland, Ore. FEBRUARY 12, 2016 - ZGF Architects LLP is delighted to announce that Patrick Cotter AIBC, OAA, AIA and Tim Williams AIA, LEED AP BD+C have been named Partners. Their advancement will continue to strengthen ZGF’s position as a design leader.

“Tim and Patrick advance our strategic vision to make a difference through innovation to bring value to our clients in all the work we do,” said ZGF Managing Partner Ted Hyman, FAIA. “Their promotion is part of ZGF’s ongoing development of new firm leadership, and their distinct perspectives as design leaders enrich and broaden our expertise.”

Patrick Cotter is located ZGF’s newest office in Vancouver, British Columbia, also the firm’s first office outside of the United States. Patrick founded the award-winning Cotter Architects, a firm with design expertise in large-scale mixed-use, transit-oriented developments, urban design, multi-family and senior housing. ZGF and Cotter Architects joined forces after successfully collaborating on multiple projects, including 3 Civic Plaza, a 52-story mixed-use development in Surrey, B.C. The transformative urban impact of this development—representative of Patrick’s body of work—broadens and highlights ZGF’s portfolio and is indicative of his leadership and compatibility with the ethos of the firm.

Patrick’s other notable current projects include large scale mixed-use developments that thoughtfully increase the density, livability and sustainability of cities worldwide, such as the Bosa Properties Denny Center, a 41-story residential tower and retail podium in Seattle’s quickly developing Denny Triangle; a four million square foot master plan for Tbilisi, capital of Georgia, that creates a new transit-oriented city center and retail core with 5,000 living units; and the urban design for an area surrounding an extension of Calgary’s light rail system.   His recent work also encompasses long-term residential care facilities, including The Heights at Mt. View for Baptist Housing, recipient of an AIA Design for Aging award.

Patrick holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of British Columbia.

Tim Williams, who recently relocated from ZGF’s Seattle office to the Washington, D.C. office, plays an instrumental role in the development of landmark projects for cities, universities, and corporations across the country. A common thread in his work is successfully managing the design of complex and flexible facilities that advance innovation, collaboration, historic restoration, and sustainability.

The most recent of Tim’s projects include: the LEED-Platinum certified historic restoration of Seattle’s King Street Station, a recipient of both the AIA National Institute Honor Award for Architecture and the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s National Preservation Honor Award; the LEED-Gold certified Molecular Engineering & Sciences Building at the University of Washington; the Nintendo of America Headquarters; and the Cascade Bicycle Club Headquarters, recipient of an AIA Seattle Honor Award.

Williams holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Washington and a Bachelor of Arts from Kenyon College.
