SANTA CLARA, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — November 10, 2015 — Renesas Electronics America, a premier provider of advanced semiconductor solutions, is showcasing its latest ARM®-based solutions at ARM TechCon 2015, November 10-12, 2015 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, Calif. Renesas Electronics America will highlight innovative and proven technologies, tools and support that enable embedded engineers to overcome the complex design challenges associated with developing industrial Internet of Things (IoT) and human-machine interface (HMI)-based applications, and automotive infotainment and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
Learn more about how Renesas' trusted ARM-based solutions are easing these challenges in the Renesas booth #603.
Create an easy path to production for IoT application enablement
With Renesas Synergy™, Renesas creates the platform for the IoT, by offering software, MCU, tools, solutions, software gallery in a unique combination. An example of what this integration enables is the IoT Enabler Kit including the Renesas Synergy Platform. This kit, being demonstrated in the Renesas booth, delivers a flexible, powerful, out-of-the-box development platform for IoT designs, taking only minutes to implement. Designed by Zephyr Technologies and featuring Wi-Fi enabled technology by Ayla Networks, the kit enables developers to easily build functional IoT applications that consume and display data from multiple, net-connected Renesas Synergy-based systems. Developers can monitor the system functions remotely via any web connection on a computer, tablet or smart phone. Renesas Synergy makes it very easy to build internet of things solutions by integrating the various software stacks and software component required for complex connected applications.
Advanced Driver Assisted Systems (ADAS) that helps promote safer and semi-autonomous driving technologies
Responding to the increasing complexity of Advanced Driver Assisted Systems, (ADAS), Renesas is committed to providing easy-to-use solutions that enable quick time to market for automotive system manufacturers. The OEM and Tier-1 solutions build on the cutting edge performance of the R-Car H2 System-on-Chip (SoC), powered by the ARM® Cortex®-A15 quad core configuration running an additional ARM® Cortex™A-7 quad-core. The R-Car H2 SoC is capable of delivering more than 25,000 DMIPS and providing state-of-the-art 3D graphics capabilities and powerful vision processing cores. The object detection solution analyzes real-life traffic scenes, pre-recorded with an automotive 55° front camera. Itseez has implemented Lane Departure Warning, Vehicle Detection and Traffic Sign Recognition. The ADAS Surround View Kit is based on streams recorded from four 190° cameras, providing dynamic viewpoints, natural rendering of the car and a perspective correct representation of the environment. All operations, including the rendering of the cockpit, are done in real-time on the R-Car H2 SoC.
Minimize system complexity and speed time to market with the RZ/A Series of MPUs and development ecosystem partners
Based on the ARM® Cortex®-A9 core processor and up to an industry-leading 10MB of on-chip memory, the Renesas RZ/A Series of microprocessors (MPUs) offers an innovative solution to minimize system design complexity for rich HMI-based applications. Renesas works closely with its RZ/A ecosystem partners to bring engineers tools and support that accelerate their time to market. Demonstrations include:
- IoT Edge: RZ/A Series’ image recognition technology enables intelligent logistics lane monitoring. The RZ/A Series is a compute engine powering the edge of the IoT, and operates the camera interface, image recognition, image feature point extraction and data transmission to the cloud. The cloud judges what the object is by using deep learning and image judgment. IoT Edge’s unique embedded database and robust cloud computing are used in the demonstration.
- Crank Software: Renesas is deploying Crank Software Storyboard™ Suite on the RZ/A Series of MPUs to provide improved UI development and streamline workflows for the development of feature-rich HMI applications for embedded Linux.
- Execute-in-Place (XIP) Linux launches multiple XIP Linux, graphics and audio demos built with DirectFB and Qt to convey proof-of-concept HMI designs. Each demonstration executes entirely from QSPI flash memory using an XIP kernel and AXFS (Advanced Execute-In-Place File System).
Processing 3D graphics and multiple video streams for high-performance Linux-based HMI applications
The RZ/G1E Group of MPUs Linux “Door Phone demo” features a two-way
video intercom system that connects two development boards over
Ethernet, to demonstrate Video over IP communication. Video input from
the “outdoor” camera is encoded using the H.264 codec on the RZ/G1E
Group, and the high-resolution video is streamed over Ethernet along
with audio and three other pre-recorded videos to the “indoor” board,
which decodes the four H.264-encoded video streams. Using a touch pad
user interface (UI), users can select which of the video streams is
displayed on the main display area and whether to record the stream and
send it over Wi-Fi to play on a mobile device.
