Functionalize Launches LetterKit: Consumers Can Print a Flashlight on 3D Printers

Functionalize's new LetterKit™ Flashlight lets users print functional electronics simply on single head 3D printers - all parts included.

SEATTLE, Oct. 29, 2015 — (PRNewswire) —  Functionalize ( www.functionalize.com) announces immediate availability of its Functionalize Flashlight LetterKit™, the easiest way to 3D print electronics on single head 3D printers. The new Flashlight LetterKit includes all parts necessary for users to 3D print a fully functional keychain flashlight. This includes: a modifiable keychain flashlight design, made for single head printers, an already printed and fully assembled 3D flashlight, enough Functionalize F-Electric™ conductive and regular filament to print five flashlights, and an extra battery and LED light to assemble fully assemble your own print. The kit comes in convenient letter-like packaging and with several jewel like, translucent polylactide (PLA, Poly) color options for the regular filament.

"3D Printing is moving from its largely novelty roots, particularly in the home, to being a major tool for those building projects in the home or small business," said analyst Rob Enderle of the Enderle Group. "A critical part of this evolution is the ability to print ever more complex objects.  The LetterKit is a clear example of this next step showcasing and teaching 3D printer users that they can now take the next step.  I expect it will be a harbinger for even more amazing things to come."

The Flashlight LetterKit not only provides a fun project for users to 3D print a fully functional electronic part, it also provides an inexpensive way to experience Functionalize F-Electric, their highly conductive 3D printing filament, with minimum commitment and everything necessary to complete a successful project.

"So many people asked if our material worked on their single head 3D printers that we decided to make the first 'Hello world' kit for functional prints, easy for anyone with a single head filament-based printer who wants to join the new industrial revolution. Print it. Put it on your keychain, and show it to your friends," said Michael Toutonghi, founder and chief executive officer of Functionalize, Inc.

Available for a retail price of $19.95 from Functionalize directly on their website as well as from authorized resellers worldwide, the Functionalize Flashlight LetterKit provides makers PLA filament compatible printers an easy way to get started with functional 3D printing.
