Micrium and Renesas Electronics America Collaborate to Support Amazon Web Services’ IoT Platform

Micrium Spectrum and the Renesas RX600 Series microcontrollers deliver a world-class, fully integrated embedded solution for AWS IoT connectivity

WESTON, Fla. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — October 8, 2015 — Micrium, the premier RTOS provider for embedded systems and the Internet of Things (IoT), today announced that it has collaborated with Renesas Electronics America, Inc., a premier provider of advanced semiconductor solutions, to provide customers a high-performance, low-cost embedded connectivity platform to accelerate embedded solution development for applications connecting to Amazon Web Services’ (AWS) IoT services.

“AWS clearly has a leadership position with regards to enabling the second wave of the Internet of Things,” explained Jean Labrosse, president and CEO of Micrium. “With this solution, two best-in-class companies have come together to offer a fully integrated, easy-to-implement approach to embedded connectivity. Micrium’s industry-leading real time operating system and wide deployment of our software make Micrium an ideal choice to leverage AWS’ new IoT platform.”

Micrium Spectrum offers an end-to-end portfolio of embedded components to connect a device to the cloud. It works on Renesas’ RX63N microcontroller-based board using Ethernet and can be integrated with Wi-Fi capabilities (Qualcomm/Arrow GT202 module, to be ordered separately) to provide an out-of-the-box connectivity solution for AWS IoT.

“An industry-leading cloud services platform can best be leveraged by high-performance, easy-to-connect devices,” said Semir Haddad, Marketing Director, MCU and MPU Products and Solutions, Renesas Electronics America Inc. “Our RX microcontrollers are ideal for next generation connected sensor and gateway applications, and even more so when integrated with the Micrium RTOS and Wi-Fi connectivity. This combination achieves a cost-effective, low-power embedded solution that is ideally suited to AWS’ IoT platform.”
