ModuleWorks and Power Automation develop interactive 3D Real-Time Simulation and unique Technology for Real-time Collision Avoidance on CNC Controls

Oct 2, 2015 -- ModuleWorks, the leading supplier of CAD/CAM components for 5-Axis machining and CNC simulation, and Power Automation, the leading manufacturer for pc-based CNC and Soft-CNC Systems, have been working in partnership on applying Simulation and Real-Time collision avoidance to the CNC. The results of this partnership, in particular the use of multi-touch gestures giving outstanding ease of use, will be shown at EMO 2015 in October.

The solution supports the full kinematic simulation of the machine incl. 3D real-time visualization in HD, fast-forward simulation of the manufacturing process and real-time collision avoidance with preventive stop. Everything from 3-axis to complex 5-axis milling is supported. Particular effort has been put into making the most of the touch interaction available on the control hardware.

Marc Hilpert, President of Power Automation, says ‘We are delighted with this unique development of the verification and in particular the real-time collision avoidance. We can not only detect a collision but even prevent it. This geometric perspective requires computing power which only a pc-based CNC System can offer. This gives us a major advantage over our competitors and a unique selling point.’

A video showing the CNC System is available here.

About ModuleWorks

ModuleWorks is a software component provider for the CAD/CAM industry. ModuleWorks’ expertise in 5-Axis Machining and Simulation is recognized throughout the CAM industry and its software components and development services are used by the majority of the leading CAM vendors. ModuleWorks 5-Axis and Simulation software has been used in the manufacture of complex parts for over a decade and they have many users in the global CAD/CAM industry.

About Power Automation

Power Automation is a CNC-Pioneer with more than 25 years in CNC experience. PA was among the first to recognize the potential of open PC-based CNC systems. It started with a small group of experts the development of a unique PC-based CNC incorporating a single CPU. Meanwhile PA supplies innovative and high-quality products, as well as complete solutions for all kind of machine tool applications worldwide. Power Automation lays a lot of emphasis on a small flexible company with highly skilled employees which support the expansion into a technological leading position.
