ATLANTA GA, August 26th 2015 -IronCAD, a leading provider of design productivity solutions, today announced a successful collaboration between IronCAD and NCG CAM at Merrem Kunststoffen B.V. in the Netherlands. Offering a complete design through manufacturing program, Merrem is recognized as one of the most advanced supplier of technical plastics components for different sectors in West Europe including molds for automotive.
According to Merrem engineers, many integrated CAD/CAM packages are good at some things, but are weak when working with STEP geometry. Having standalone CAD that works well alongside their standalone CAM, gives Merrem a strong solution, as both products are focused in their own strengths. Using IronCAD and NCG CAM, Merrem produces molds for: Wheel house liners, Engine compartments, Luggage compartments, Roof liners and Poultry farming machinery.
Merrem found that IronCAD operates very well as a complementary offering to NCG CAM. They initially purchased IronCAD to import and repair imprecise STEP files received from their customers. IronCAD is able to automatically recover imprecise geometry files using integrated healing tools. Merrem found that this capability is especially useful with CATIA and STEP files and the repaired geometry can be read into the NCG CAM swiftly with no problems. IronCAD can also import DXF and DWG files and subsequently export a STEP file for downstream consumption. This powerful IronCAD capability offers abilities that Merrem has not been able to accomplish with any other software.
