The Internet of Things, semi-autonomous vehicles and smart cities take center stage at Freescale’s signature event
AUSTIN, Texas — (BUSINESS WIRE) — June 4, 2015 — Freescale Semiconductor will host the Freescale Technology Forum (FTF) Americas 2015 – one of the premier technical training events for the embedded design community – June 22-25 at the new JW Marriot in downtown Austin. Registration is now open and early bird pricing ends June 5.
Event Highlights:
- Steve Wozniak, innovator, co-founder of Apple® Computer and industry influencer. Wozniak will share his candid views on today’s technical innovation, as well as the creativity needed for tomorrow’s connected devices.
- Freescale president and CEO, Gregg Lowe is scheduled to reveal how Freescale is driving the Internet of Tomorrow (IoT) — a future IoT where secure solutions exist across every touch point, from the end node to the network to the cloud. Lowe will share the stage with customers and partners demonstrating innovation, moving the industry from defining IoT strategies to securing IoT implementation.
- 15 years ago, doctors told Indy Racing League driver Sam Schmidt he’d never move his arms or legs again after he crashed during a practice lap, severely injuring his spinal cord. In 2013, engineers and medical researchers joined forces to work toward a common vision—modifying a car to be safely driven at speed by head movements for a quadriplegic race driver. Arrow Electronics unveiled their Semi-Autonomous Motorcar ( SAM) to make Schmidts’s dream of driving again a reality. Freescale is proud to partner with Arrow on this incredible project. Schmidt and his car will be featured at FTF.
- More than 2,000 attendees expected – including embedded engineers, industry experts, media representatives, executives and ecosystem partners – are expected to attend.
- The event will feature nearly 250 interactive demonstrations from Freescale and its ecosystem partners. More than 200 product and solution experts will be on hand to deliver 350 hours of training.
-
Attendees will have the opportunity to experience over 150 technical
sessions focusing on everything from automotive safety to smart cities
to the IoT. Expected sessions include topics such as:
- The make-or-break milestone towards autonomous vehicles
- Making the connected home a reality
- Tackling cloud to edge security
“We are thrilled to bring FTF home to Austin for the first time and can’t wait to showcase the Internet of Tomorrow alongside our customers’ incredible technology and product innovations,” said Gregg Lowe, president and CEO of Freescale. “Nearly 70,000 technologists have attended this first-class event and we look forward to hosting new attendees this year.”
