Dimensional Control Systems is showcasing its plant floor SPC software solution that provides important decision making information to key stakeholders in manufacturing.
May 28, 2015 -- Dimensional Control Systems (DCS) is presenting the latest version of the QDM Suite at the BIG M Convergence in Cobo Hall, Detroit, MI, June 2nd to the 5th, 2015. DCS will be presenting a sample setup of the solution and how it delivers key quality information to important stakeholders: plant floor supervisors, engineers, managers and professionals.
DCS will be presenting a Plant Floor Solution level of QDM Suite. This setup uses QDM modules to create a connected virtual environment in the plant floor that collects, centralizes, standardizes and reports inspection data. This modular system gives companies the ability to customize their setup to meet their specific environment’s demands, whether it is automatic collection of CMM data and reporting on monitors on the plant floor to highlight minute by minute quality, or data entry workstations for quality professionals using hand held measurement devices.
“As a quality system, QDM gives companies a series of tools that interconnect to form a system with real time dashboards, plant floor monitors, analytic tools and instant graphical reporting,” stated Thagu Vivek, QDM Product Manager at DCS. “What we feel the greatest value of QDM is the system’s scale-ability. Companies do not have to implement large enterprise wide systems. They can begin with individual reporting and SPC tools, and build up to a larger system as usage increases. This lets each company decide their level of use, customizing the system to fit their setup, rather than purchasing a ‘one size fits all’ solution.”
As build issues in a manufacturing plant cost exponentially more the longer they persist, QDM gives engineers and plant managers the information they need to identify issues before they become problems, and address them swiftly. This is done by automation of inspection data aggregation, and constant analysis of the data to provide metrics and image based reports that provide constant insight into production quality. As an issue begins, the data starts to trend negatively or parts are produced out of specification, not only do the reports show failed measurement points, and where on the part, but also sends automated alerts and emails while reports are generated to highlight the problem area. Within moments, engineers know where the problem is, when it started, and can quickly make decisions to resolve it before any parts need to be reworked or scrapped.
After the problem is resolved, managers can check their dashboards and track progress to verify the solution. Analyses can be run to make sure the new processes stabilize the system. At any point through the entire process, reports and information can be pulled from the central database on any set of inspection data, keeping colleagues informed of the progress.
