May 12, 2015 -- Conducted by Vero Software and Woodworking Network, a campaign to raise funds for woodworking education recently came to a successful conclusion, with sales of a T-shirt designed expressly for the cause resulted in the collection of more than $1,200.
Vero Software, creator of the Cabinet Vision and Alphacam CNC solutions for woodworking, and Woodworking Network, a wood-industry magazine and Internet presence, joined forces to help provide greater educational and professional support for woodworkers.
“Our goal was to deliver a fun, creative campaign that would inspire career woodworkers, and others who would like to support the woodworking industry, to become more invested in its future,” said Paul Losavio, marketing executive for Vero Software. “There is so much potential and opportunity in woodworking, and it’s important that we do what we can to ensure its continued growth.”
Proceeds from the sales of the T-shirt, which sports an “I Heart Woodworking” graphic, were donated to the Woodwork Career Alliance (WCA), a non-profit organization dedicated to forging a strong future for the woodworking industry by offering professional resources and educational opportunities.
Those who attended the Cabinets & Closets Conference & Expo, hosted by the Woodworking Network last month in Schaumberg, Ill., were eligible to enter a drawing to win an iPad by wearing the “I Heart Woodworking” shirt to the Cabinet Vision booth.
“We had a great show,” Losavio said of the expo. “Some visitors were wearing the shirt, and were excited to contribute to a truly special cause.”
About the Woodwork Career Alliance
It’s difficult to find and keep skilled workers, and it’s difficult for woodworkers to demonstrate their skill sets during the interview process. As such, the industry needs a means for both recognizing skills and rewarding achievement. The Woodwork Career Alliance meets that need.
The Woodwork Passport Program leads to professional credentials for woodworkers and a pool of demonstrated talent for employers. Learn more about the Woodwork Career Alliance and the Woodwork Passport Program, by visiting woodworkcareer.org/.
