MACOM Introduces Industry Leading High Power 6W Ka-Band Power Amplifier

Device Boasts 24 dB Gain and Excellent Linearity for Ka-Band, High Data Density Satellite Communications, and 5th Generation Radio Access Networks

LOWELL, Mass. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — May 4, 2015 — M/A-COM Technology Solutions Inc. (“MACOM”), a leading supplier of high performance analog RF, microwave, millimeterwave and photonic semiconductor products, today introduced a high linearity 6 W power amplifier, ideally suited for Ka-Band High Data Density Satellite communications and 5G Radio Access Networks.

MACOM’s new MAAP-011140-DIE is offered as a bare die, delivering 24 dB of linear gain, 6W of saturated output power and 23% power-added efficiency. The device provides greater than 25 dBm POUT/tone while maintaining IM3 levels of 30 dBc. The efficiency performance allows customers to operate remote VSAT terminals with lower power consumption and higher performance than competing alternative offerings. The 6W PSAT enables greater transmission power and signal strength performance in critical military or civilian datalink applications.

“The MAAP-011140-DIE offers a unique combination of high power, linearity and efficiency in a small form factor that is ideally suited to systems requiring highly efficient Satcom transmitter solutions,” said Paul Beasly, Product Manager. “In conjunction with the recently announced 4 W Ka-Band PA, MAAP-011139-DIE this new 6W device broadens MACOM’s Ka-Band power amplifier family.”

MACOM products continue to enable connections that ensure high data-density network performance from L-Band to Ka-Band. Our analog, RF, microwave and millimeterwave innovations optimize wireless bandwidth for clear, uninterrupted signals across even the most remote locations.

The table below outlines typical performance for the MAAP-011140-DIE:
