April 1, 2015 -- Vero Software with their industry focussed CAD/CAM system VISI, is taking the lead in bringing the plastic industry’s cutting edge technologies together for an educational innovation event to be held at the UK headquarters of SECO Tools on May 7th.
Acknowledged as one of the world's leading solutions for the mould making industry, VISI offers a unique combination of applications from fully integrated wireframe, surface and solid modelling, plastic flow front analysis, 3D tool design, and comprehensive 2D, 3D and 5-axis milling strategies.
Vero support engineer Paul Smithson says the plastics industry has an exciting future with the advent of new technologies and materials. “The opportunities to become leaders in this sector are vast but will require a full understanding of the advances that are being made.” Paul will demonstrate how the latest release of VISI plays an essential part in efficient design using Hasco standards. “Using predefined bolster kits, tooling assemblies are achieved much quicker than before.” And looking at moulding process analysis and optimisation, he is also showing how plastic flow front analysis and conformal cooling simulation can be used to produce accurate technical components. “Critical design decisions can be made through process analysis, during both concept design and tooling design, achieving optimised production runs.”
Sponsored by the GTMA, around 100 mould and tool makers are expected to attend the event, which will focus on mould making, looking at the use of new technologies, and how additive manufacturing and traditional methods are driving efficiencies in tool production and finished part creation.
Keynote speaker is Graham Tromans, President of rapid prototyping, additive manufacturing and 3D printing consultants, G. P. Tromans Associates. With more than 23 years’ experience, Graham has twice been ranked in the Top 25 of the World’s most influential people in additive manufacturing, and is currently Chair of the Additive Manufacturing Association in the UK.
With ever-shorter time-to-market and more variety of products in low volume runs, cost-efficient prototypes need to be produced effectively and additional presentations from Neil Moseley, Hasco UK Managing Director and Martin Hamill, Sales Manager of SYS Systems Limited will highlight the use of 3D printing for creating prototype tooling. The General Manager of Romi UK, Marcel Machado, will review the status of the UK mould making industry and explain how plastic injection moulding machines are adapting to market needs, and comparing injection with 3D.
Vero Software is part of Hexagon (Nordic exchange: HEXA B), a leading global provider of design, measurement and visualisation technologies. Delegates will hear how Hexagon Metrology offers a comprehensive range of products and services for all metrology applications. Hexagon’s Jamie Barnett will present a case study about their Romer Absolute Arm. “This has an HPL20.8 laser scanner which is used for the ultra-fast inspection of mould tools. We empower our customers to fully control their manufacturing processes, enhancing the quality of products and increasing efficiency in manufacturing around the world.”
