AUSTIN, Texas — (BUSINESS WIRE) — March 2, 2015 — Silicon Labs (NASDAQ: SLAB), a leading provider of IC solutions for the Internet of Things and the audio/video broadcast industry, today announced that the Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) overseeing the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) Investigation No. 337-TA-910 has issued a Notice of Initial Determination in Silicon Labs’ favor. The ALJ found that all patent claims asserted against Silicon Labs’ products are either invalid or not infringed.
The Investigation was instituted in February 2014, based on a complaint filed by Cresta Technology (Cresta) alleging that Silicon Labs and several of its customers infringed three patents related to television tuners. One of the patents was later withdrawn by Cresta. After a full evidentiary hearing, the ALJ found that there was no violation committed by Silicon Labs or its customers and that all patent claims asserted by Cresta were either invalid, not infringed or both. In addition, the ALJ found that Cresta failed to satisfy the ITC’s domestic industry requirement for each patent, resulting in a separate and independent basis for the finding of no violation in the Investigation.
The ITC has established a date of June 29, 2015, to issue a final determination.
