Winner of Body Image Art Competition Revealed at 29th Annual Symposium
PEKIN, Ill., Feb. 26, 2015 — (PRNewswire) — The International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals (iaedp) is proud to announce its top five finalists for the 5th Annual "Imagine Me Beyond What You See" Body Image Mannequin Art Competition, sponsored by ASCENDchc. Selected from 18 submissions from the United States and Canada, the top five finalists will be showcased and the winner will be revealed at the 29th annual iaedp Symposium, March 19-22, at the Point Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort in Phoenix.Entries included mannequins created in collaboration between clients, residents, counselors, and art therapists from treatment centers, both residential and outpatient, hospitals, private practice, researcher/health coach, graduate student and artist.
The mixed-medium works are judged on clarity of theme, creativity and originality, quality of composition and design and the overall impression and presentation of the artwork. The 2015 judges include Michelle Dean, MA, ATR-BC, LPC, CGP, HLM (DVATA) and Board Certified Art Psychotherapist and Professional Member of American Art Therapy Association; Fritz Liedtke, Photographic Fine Artist and author; and Leigh Cohn, MAT, CEDS, author, artist and owner of Gurze Books.
The Top Five 2015 finalists are:
- Rising from the Ashes by Rogers Memorial Hospital
- Odyssey by Eating Recovery Center IP/Res
- Self-Preservation by Rebecca Tishman
- Set Yourself Free, Piece by Piece by Cambridge Eating Disorder Centers/Adolescent
- Broken and Mended, Stronger Than Before by Laura Riss, PsyD of Kaiser Permanente/GA

Imagine Me Beyond What You See Awards Ceremony will be held Thursday, March 19 during iaedp's opening night. The evening opens with iaedp's signature International Flag Procession, spotlighting the International and United States Chapter Delegations. The Imagine Me Awards presentation will include the Professionals' Choice Award, voted on by iaedp membership and Symposium attendees.
