Bloodline is an anime series that aims to teach tough lessons through an animated medium

NEW YORK, Feb. 24, 2015 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Alphonso Blackwood hopes to bring anime into the mainstream with his new cartoon series Bloodline. Blackwood has taken to Kickstarter to raise $75,000 to produce one, 24-minute long episode of Bloodline complete with a soundtrack and online video game. The campaign is currently live and will be running through Friday, March 27, 2015.

The series is set in modern times and follows Zeinshaw Rollin, a 16-year-old high school student from an underprivileged community that discovers he's part of an ancient, royal, other-worldly bloodline. Throughout the series, Rollin is challenged by earthly and other worldly forces and learns many tough lessons that are relevant to young adults today. It also follows the classic anime trope of having characters that are reincarnates of previous generations.

As a young child, Blackwood fell in love with anime and its ability to tell stories and teach lessons in a unique way. Blackwood shares a similar background with the main character of Bloodline and hopes to use these similarities to make the storyline more relatable. The cartoon is aimed towards young adults, but will teach lessons that are applicable to all age groups. Instead of simply showing right from wrong, Blackwood hopes viewers will feel a connection with Rollin and learn from his mistakes. The characters in Bloodline will be flawed and make mistakes, but hopefully the audience can learn from these mistakes and pick up on valuable life lessons.

Bloodline is currently on Kickstarter and offers rewards for pledges as low as $5 and up to $10,000. The money raised will go toward professional production value and voice overs for the episodes created.
