OGC and OMA to Exhibit Together at Mobile World Congress 2015

Feb 10, 2015 -- The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) and the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) today announced they will cooperate at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, March 2-5, 2015 in order to promote a unified message to the mobile community. Exhibiting in Hall 8.1, stand K52, members of OMA and the OGC will demonstrate how products and services enabled by standards developed at the two organizations have helped their companies achieve market success.

"For many developers, navigating the world of standards can be complicated and confusing. Partnerships such as the partnership between OMA and the OGC are critical to achieving global interoperability, not just in technology, but between standards development organisations," said Denise McKenzie, Head of Outreach at OGC. "Location Information and Mobile technology have a symbiotic relationship. OGC is here with OMA to help the mobile developer community understand the benefits of using open location standards."

OMA member companies such as Alcatel-Lucent, Comverse, CSR, Friendly Technologies, HOP Ubiquitous, Mformation, Netcomm Wireless, Red Bend Software, Red Stone Sunshine, Smith Micro, Vuzix and Zelitron will present live demonstrations throughout the four days of the congress. In addition, OMA will premier their new OMA Developer Toolkit designed to give developers the tools they need to create innovative products and services based on OMA specifications and APIs.

OGC member companies such as MetOffice, Ordnance Survey and Compusult will be demonstrating their products and use of the standards across the 4 days. There will also be opportunity to meet the international experts on the OGC's new ARML2.0 and SensorThings standards.

"Open standards have always been and will continue to be critical for the efficient deployment of interoperable products and services," said Gary K. Jones, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Open Mobile Alliance. "OGC and OMA are here at Mobile World Congress to illustrate how we deliver programs which support our member companies and the entire wireless industry throughout the technology development process, from requirements to standardization to implementation."

The combined OMA and OGC stand will be located at Hall 8.1 K52 between isles J and K just around the corner from the popular App Lounge and Damm Bar. Visitors are welcome to browse the OMA and OGC demos throughout the congress. To arrange for private meetings, contact Denise McKenzie at the OGC at Email Contact or Elizabeth Rose at OMA at Email Contact.

About Open Mobile Alliance (OMA)

OMA is the wireless industry’s focal point for the development of mobile service enabler specifications, which support the creation of interoperable end-to-end mobile services. From requirements to specifications to implementations, OMA enables service architectures and open interfaces that are independent of the underlying wireless networks and platforms and that work across devices, service providers, networks, and geographies.
