Time is money for EPC and AE firms, and by reducing project delivery time, these firms are able to achieve savings throughout the project lifecycle. By using Bentley software, Guangdong Hydropower Planning and Design Institute, for example, shortened its schedule for the Qingyuan Pumped Storage Power Station. It did this by improving multi-discipline design collaboration, with a reduction of 400-man days of design and lowered project delivery costs. Similarly, J.L. Patterson & Associates was able to react quickly to alignment changes on the Tehachapi Mountain Range project, which significantly improved design efficiency and reduced project delivery time by three to four months.
The cost savings, just for a single segment, were approximately USD 2.7 million. Marc A. Cañas, vice president of J.L. Patterson & Associates, said, "Bentley products and their inter-platform exchange capabilities allowed us to become more efficient and effective in our project deliveries to our clients." By leveraging interoperable and collaborative tools, EPC and AE firms are improving design quality, reducing design errors, and providing better plans to minimize risk, resulting in high-performance project delivery.
