BRIDGE Energy Group(R) Teams With Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) to Deliver Award Winning Visualization Project

MARLBOROUGH, MA -- (Marketwired) -- Jan 13, 2015 -- BRIDGE Energy Group, a leading consulting and systems integration company focused on improving utility operational performance, today announced their work with Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) in enhancing its Distribution Operations center with the technology to synthesize information from nearly 30 disparate data sources into a real-time visual analytics user interface. The integration of visual intelligence tools will improve operational performance and lead to improved services for SMUD's customers.

BRIDGE Energy Group, leveraging its domain expertise in utility operational solutions and systems, provided the business analysis and project management to jointly define and deliver the business vision, functional requirements, use cases and work flows to support SMUD's visualization center upgrade.

"Visually exploring vast amounts of data to quickly uncover insights and relationships, from weather and outages to vegetation management and asset maintenance, further enables grid operators to proactively manage the distribution system," said Michael Greenhalgh, SMUD Smart Grid Project Manager. "As a community-owned electric company, there is solid value in technology that helps SMUD get focused early by translating initial high level use cases into tangible business and technical needs."

As part of the relationship, BRIDGE also performed the gap and feasibility analysis with the technology vendor to identify the best way to meet the business needs of the utility. As the consulting and systems integration company, BRIDGE further acted as the knowledge integrator by leading workshops and stakeholder interviews with customers, subject matter experts and the development team to produce a clear understanding of business objectives, conceptual architecture and scope of the project.

"Navigating the flood of information driven by new smart distribution system devices requires that multiple stakeholders in the organization work together to connect the dots between business, IT and OT objectives," said Ray Tulloch, VP of Grid Management at BRIDGE Energy Group. "BRIDGE is well positioned to function as this critical knowledge integrator based on our experience in engaging both internal and external stakeholders as part of an end to end business and systems integration methodology."

Serving a population of 1.4 million people, SMUD is the nation's sixth-largest electric utility that's owned by its customers.
