HOUSTON — (BUSINESS WIRE) — January 13, 2015 — 3D printing, the most disruptive technology of 2015, took over the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas last week, providing emerging technology innovators Changing Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB: CHGT) with an ideal platform to research new breakthroughs and potential partnerships in the rapidly expanding 3D printing sector.
CES is the world’s premiere gathering place for businesses and individuals invested in consumer technologies, making the event an ideal showcase for the latest products and innovations. Held in Las Vegas, CES showcased more than 3,600 exhibitors in 2015, including manufacturers, developers and suppliers of consumer technology hardware, content, technology delivery systems.
This year, a wide variety of 3D printing startups and established firms arrived on the Strip to show off their latest products and machines, with CES debuting a space dedicated solely to 3D printing.
“The technology industry clearly recognizes that there is a growing marketplace for consumer 3D printing,” said CHGT CEO Omar T. Durham. “Last year, spending on 3D printing and additive manufacturing hit $3.07 billion dollars, and that number is set to explode in the years to come. We believe that 2015 will be the turning point for this technology, and we’re already seeing a glimpse of what’s to come in the very near future this week at CES.”
CHGT is making preparations to be a major player in that future. The company is developing a unique on-demand, interactive retail 3D printing experience to capitalize on the continuous influx of new consumers to the market. The portal, which is being built by interactive software developer Advarion Incorporated for CHGT subsidiary 6th Dimension Technologies (6D3D), will give users the ability to search its database for printable 3D models and purchase them from the site. It will also offer original equipment manufacturer (OEM) replacement-part manufacturing, as well as licensing opportunities for game and animation developers.
“We’re building the tools to satisfy a need that most consumers don’t realize they even have yet,” Durham said.
