Engadget, the official awards partner at CES 2015, selected the Razer Forge TV as the winner for the "Best Gaming" product at the show. The device also won "People's Choice" by way of an open public vote. Razer's past "Best of CES" honors included "People's Voice" in 2011 and 2012; "Best of Show," "Best Gaming" and "People's Voice" in 2013; and "Best PC" and "People's Choice" in 2014.
Razer Forge TV was also acknowledged by GottaBeMobile, Android Central, Expert Reviews and Ubergizmo for its innovation and was Digital Trends' finalist in the Gaming category.
"The Razer Forge TV is a solution that brings the best of PC gaming and streaming entertainment into the living room," says Min-Liang Tan, Razer co-founder and CEO. "We successfully engineered a micro-console in an elegant form factor with sufficient power and connectivity required of hardcore gamers, with peripherals that uniquely enable high-performance gaming in a casual home environment. With the additional ability to stream movies and other media, and to play the best Android games directly on one's TV, the Razer Forge is truly a micro-console for the next generation of gamers."
Multimedia content and Android games from Google Play are powered by the device's quad-core Qualcomm® CPU and dedicated GPU. Razer Forge TV will also bring hardcore PC gaming into the living room with its Razer Cortex: Stream software and Razer Turret lapboard.
Razer Cortex: Stream, developed in concert with cloud graphics company OTOY, sets the streaming benchmark for frames per second and provides ultra-low latency gaming and up to full-HD resolution with a standard Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection. Unlike other solutions, Razer Cortex: Stream is compatible with most popular PC brand components including NVIDIA and AMD and can support Directx9 games and higher from any publisher.
Razer's two other announcements from CES 2015 -- the Nabu X social wearable and Open Source Virtual Reality (OSVR) -- also stood out from a crowded field of new technology. The Nabu X won TechRadar's "Best Fitness Tech" and Tom's Guide's "Reader's Choice" awards. OSVR in turn took Reviewed.com's "Editors' Choice," TechRadar's "People's Choice," and Stuff.tv's "Top Wearable Tech" awards and was selected by Popular Science in its "Best on the Showroom Floor."
