November 27, 2014 -- (Harrisburg, Pa.) GeoDecisions, an information technology (IT) company specializing in geospatial solutions, celebrated geographic information system (GIS) Day on Nov. 19, 2014, through on-site career, project, and Esri® platform discussions in academic settings. With a strong presence during central Pennsylvania GIS Day at Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC), GeoDecisions highlighted employee and student activities on camera and in blogs.
In addition, GeoDecisions staff gave GIS Day presentations at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia; Westside Elementary School in Smithfield, Virginia; and Little Explorers Preschool in Madison, Wisconsin. Brian Smith, vice president of commercial solutions with GeoDecisions, also volunteered during an Air Mobility Command Museum elementary school field trip to support GIS Day festivities in Dover, Delaware.
"From preschool through higher education, we want our community involvement and education efforts to make a positive impact in a student’s life," said GeoDecisions President Brendan Wesdock, M.C.P., GISP. “For us, every day is like GIS Day.”
GIS Day is a global, grassroots event held during the third week of November aimed at providing a better understanding of GIS in our communities, schools, and organizations. In 2014, GIS Day coincided with Geography Awareness Week.
