This breakthrough is particularly important for delivery of applications to wireless devices, which often receive images over slower, congested or unpredictable wireless network connections. It also represents a significant departure from legacy Content Delivery Networks, which primarily use physical caches distributed to many points-of-presence near the edges of wireless networks to speed delivery. These cache-based systems fail to account for the last mile wireless connection to the device.
