Oct 21, 2014 -- The launch of Pointfuse, the automated point cloud processing software from Arithmetica, attracted over 2,000 visitors at Intergeo. With three launch presentations each hour the audience was shown how Pointfuse provides a fast, precise, yet flexible way of converting laser scanned point clouds into highly accurate vector models. Visitors to Europe’s largest conference and trade fair for geodesy, geoinformation and Land Management, were also told about the new, free Pointfuse viewer and iOS APP that allows point cloud data to be converted to a vector model and visualised in 3D.
“There was a tangible buzz to the Intergeo show floor with all things to do with laser scanning generating excitement and real interest. It was evident that the industry has moved on; with the emphasis shifting from just collecting point cloud data to actually processing it into useable vector models,” commented Mark Senior, Pointfuse Development Manager. “By choosing Intergeo to launch the standalone version of Pointfuse we were able to capitalise on this and just about every one of the sixty Pointfuse demonstrations held over three days was packed out, many with standing room only; that means over 2,000 people attended the presentations and subsequent question and answer session.”
Pointfuse is a powerful modelling engine that gives professionals an astonishingly fast, precise and flexible way of converting the vast point cloud datasets generated by laser scanners or photogrammetry into high fidelity vector models. Designed for engineers, architects and construction professionals, Pointfuse uses advanced statistical techniques to create vector models which can then be manipulated using any industry-standard CAD software.
Uniquely, Pointfuse is fully mobile compatible, and can process data from mobile scanners as easily and quickly as from terrestrial or airborne systems – and its results can be output and used on standard handheld mobile devices for use in the field.
Arithmetica will be building on the successful launch of Pointfuse at Intergeo with attendance at the European LiDAR Mapping Forum (ELMF) & SPAR Europe 3D Measurement and Imaging Conference being held from the 8-10 December 2014 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
