PARIS — (BUSINESS WIRE) — October 3, 2014 — Prodways and CEA-Liten have just signed a partnership to develop and optimize 3D printing technologies for industrial and biomedical applications. By focusing R&D efforts on printing equipment and processes, the partnership aims to develop new industrial applications.
Serving the markets for photosensitive resins, technical ceramics and metals, Prodways offers premium 3D printers and materials for a wide range of industrial and biomedical applications. As a major part of this market, Prodways seeks to participate actively in the development of materials for 3D printing and is thus working with CEA-Liten.
CEA-Liten's goal is to improve the performance of materials and design new solutions that are economical, reliable and lightweight. The solutions rely on multi-material systems and nanostructuring to improve material properties.
With an R&D platform including a complete line of industrial and semi-industrial equipment, CEA-Liten can carry out the entire process of producing these materials from metallic, ceramic and magnetic powders in a single building.
CEA-Liten now has a platform dedicated exclusively to 3D printing to meet the new challenges.
The aim of the two-year partnership is to improve the properties of materials used and optimize processes for design and cleaning of polymer, ceramic and metal parts while protecting the environment.
“By partnering with CEA-Liten, Prodways will rely on excellent technological research to develop materials whose mechanical properties are not yet possible with 3D printing. The partnership is at the heart of our expertise and will enable us to imagine new applications that are especially promising for industry,” explained Philippe Laude, Prodways’ CEO.
“The expertise of Prodways provides the market with the best technology at the most opportune time. By providing access to our competences with materials and process, Liten is fulfilling its role of innovation accelerator serving industry and will contribute to making Prodways a leader in various segments of the booming 3D printing market,” stated Florence Lambert, Director of CEA-Liten.
