Buffalo Computer Graphics Releases Update for DisasterLAN Incident Management System

Buffalo Computer Graphics' DisasterLAN Version 9.1 includes Flexible Status Boards and Powerful Social Media Tools for Today's Changing Emergency Operations Centers

BUFFALO, N.Y., Sept. 12, 2014 — (PRNewswire) —  DisasterLAN (DLAN) continues to evolve to meet the changing needs of emergency responders. In the past, Emergency Manager would project one situational awareness board on a large display within their Emergency Operation Center (EOC). Today multiple screens, and even mobile devices, can display this information and the one size fits all approach to situational awareness no longer applies. The new revamped DLAN Status Board module allows for multiple boards per incident that can be crafted around the specific needs of different EOC workflows. The new board builder tools allow users to design their own landing pages, dashboards, and status boards that leverage other DLAN modules and tools. With new board builders, administrators can easily embed DLAN's rich mapping tools, comprehensive task and resource management reports, multimedia slideshows, social media feeds, and quick links into their custom boards. This flexibility allows responders to create boards tailored to the usage needs of the staff managing their incidents.

"After evaluating our customer's needs in today's emergencies, we are confident that our new board building tools hit the perfect balance of flexibility, portability, and ease of use.  Our users will be able to build customized dashboards and experiences that meet their unique needs yet leverage the power of workflow based tools to help them to do their job more efficiently.  We are excited to see what our DLAN users are able to do with these new toolsets." – Tim Masterson (DisasterLAN Product Manager)

This edition also includes powerful new social media tools that allow administrators to integrate Twitter feeds into their communication and situational awareness toolsets. Users can now receive, respond to, and retweet Twitter messages directly from DLAN. They can also post tweets to the Ticket Manager and Watch Command modules, so they can be included as part of the incident log, and monitor them from within the Communication Center, allowing users to triage social searches in an organized, workflow oriented manner.

As with other areas of DLAN, the new tools are designed to dynamically resize and adapt to any screen, allowing emergency managers to use them from any device.

DLAN is a web-based incident management system designed for use in emergency operations centers to manage both planned events and disasters using ICS and NIMS standards.
