LONDON — (BUSINESS WIRE) — July 30, 2014 — CH2M HILL welcomes the publication of the London Infrastructure Plan 2050, released today by Mayor of London, Boris Johnson.
The plan, which outlines how to provide Londoners with homes, water, energy, schools, transport, digital connectivity and better quality of life, highlights key areas that London needs to address to ensure it remains one of the most competitive cities in the world.
Projects such as Crossrail, HS2, Thames Tideway Tunnel, along with upgrades to the existing road, rail and Underground network were all cited as key areas for development and essential for the city’s growth if it is to reach 11 million people by 2050.
CH2M HILL, currently working on the programme management and development of Crossrail, HS2 and the Thames Tideway Tunnel, is encouraged to see the long term commitment from the Mayor to ensure the complex needs of London will be met for future generations. Programmes such as those mentioned in the report will not only help address the housing and transport needs of the city in the coming years, they will also contribute to a better environment for business to thrive and improved quality of life for Londoners.
Commenting on the report, Director of European Corporate Affairs at CH2M HILL, Jonathan Refoy, said: “CH2M HILL welcomes the Mayor’s Infrastructure Plan 2050 and is encouraged to hear the long-term commitment to developing the city’s infrastructure.
