Jul 30, 2014 -- At no cost, and zero risk, manufacturers can now take Edgecam Workflow for a free TestDrive before deciding if an innovative CAM system can improve their business processes.
“CAM is a vital part of companies staying competitive nowadays,” says Edgecam General Manager Raf Lobato. “It enables manufacturers to produce complex components with very tight lead times. However, a number of engineering firms still rely on manual or first generation CAM systems for programming, and are falling behind their global competitors.”
“This is mainly because they do not want to invest in something that they are unsure of or risk changing an existing system.” But thanks to Edgecam Workflow, from Vero Software, they can now evaluate the use of Edgecam Workflow by downloading a trial version from www.edgecam.com/testdrive.
Edgecam TestDrive gives manufacturers who are new to CAM or considering their future CAM requirements the opportunity to thoroughly test whether it makes a difference and improves their business. They can use it to program their parts and generate NC code to see how Edgecam Workflow will work for them.
Once the TestDrive begins, manufacturers download Edgecam, use the tutorials provided, and attend a free training class.
Initially, the TestDrive installation will be in “Homework Mode” – a fully functioning system without the capability of generating CNC code. Once having attended the training course with their local Edgecam supplier, users can then switch to an evaluation Edgecam Essential System, either for milling or turning, which permits the creation of CNC programs.
With the TestDrive system, users can load CAD formats such as SolidWorks, Inventor and Solid Edge and create simple solid models through Edgecam Workflow Solids (EWS). They can also make full use of numerous other features, including:
• Stock & Fixture management
• Advanced Feature Recognition (AFR)
• Machining cycles
• Shopfloor documentation
• NC editor & Simulation
Most Edgecam TestDrives will last between one and four months, before the manufacturer has to either stop using Edgecam Workflow or choosing to invest and continue with the already proven business improvements.
