IPextreme Leverages New DAC 2014 Focus on IP

IPextreme and Constellations partners take active roles in nascent IP Track and other programming at the 51st Design Automation Conference in San Francisco, California

Campbell, Calif. – May 13, 2014 – IPextreme, Inc. today announced extensive involvement in the 51st annual Design Automation Conference (DAC), which will be held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California from June 1 – 5, 2014. The company and its Constellations™ constituents will participate to an unprecedented level in support of DAC’s new initiative to broaden the traditionally EDA-centric conference’s focus to include an emphasis on semiconductor intellectual property (IP).

“It’s encouraging to see DAC making a concerted effort to give IP a greater share of the spotlight,” said McKenzie Mortensen, Director of Marketing, IPextreme. “Customers rely on both EDA and IP companies to bring their products to market—it is only logical to offer them a more well-rounded body of content, thereby enabling the conference to more accurately reflect the landscape of the industry. In my capacity as DAC IP Technical Program Committee Co-Chair, I have seen first hand the high caliber submissions from IP providers around the world, all of whom are eager to come together to deliver a top-notch conference program. It’s going to be a fantastic show.”

“We look forward to seeing our customers and partners at DAC this year,” said Warren Savage, President and CEO, IPextreme. “With more IP providers and content than ever before, it is a great opportunity for everyone to take a fresh look at the conference. This is not the same old DAC—I think everyone will really appreciate the additions.”

Constellations IP Community: Booth #2419
Constellations is a collective of like-minded semiconductor IP companies collaborating at both the marketing and engineering levels to develop and promote advanced IP solutions. Companies participating in Constellations offer complementary products, creating a comprehensive portfolio of semiconductor IP from which customers can develop complete SoC solutions.

Several member companies have come together to exhibit in the Constellations IP Community Booth. IPextreme is joined by Adapt-IP, Certus Semiconductor, Methods2Business, Sonics, and Truechip. For additional details, view the virtual booth for each company on the online DAC Exhibit Floor Plan at http://s23.a2zinc.net/clients/MPAssociates/51DAC/public/eventmap.aspx.

IP Track Panel: Private Companies in the Semiconductor IP Industry & Ecosystem
John Blyler of Extension Media will moderate this panel, which is part of IP Track Session 2: The Making and Selling of IP Businesses.

In this discussion, panelists will offer DAC audiences an insider’s perspective on what it takes to succeed in the semiconductor IP market. Joining this panel will be founders of companies of various ages, from new ventures to 20-year-old institutions. Panelists will present their viewpoints on how they got started, best business practices, and strategies for competing with larger players in the market. They will also delve into the challenges faced by smaller players in the IP ecosystem and the practicalities of carving out their place in an ever-changing market.

Serving as panelists are:
Hal Barbour - CAST, Inc., Woodcliff Lake, NJ
Michael Chapman - Cortus S.A.S., Montpellier, France
Warren Savage - IPextreme, Campbell, CA
Marleen Boonen - Methods2Business BV, Eindhoven, The Netherlands
Dirk Logie - Recore Systems, Enschede, The Netherlands

This panel takes place on Monday, June 2, 2014 from 10:30 to 11:15 AM in Moscone Center South, Room 105. Those interested in attending this panel will require an IP Track registration. DAC Pavilion Panel: Who Drives Whom? High Level Synthesis or IP Reuse?
IPextreme President and CEO Warren Savage will serve as moderator for this DAC Pavilion Panel discussion.

IP reuse and high level synthesis each were touted as the holy grail of design. What needs to change in high level synthesis to enable better IP reuse, and how can a richer IP ecosystem drive productivity via high-level synthesis? Panelists will unscramble this chicken and egg dilemma under Warren’s guidance of the conversation.

Serving as panelists are:
David Garrett - Broadcom Corp., Irvine, CA
Oliver Gunasekara - NGCodec, San Jose, CA
Shishpal Rawat - Intel Corp., Folsom, CA

This panel takes place on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 from 3:45 to 4:30 PM in Moscone Center South, Booth 313. Access to DAC Pavilion Panels is included with all conference registration types, including exhibit floor passes.

Stars of IP Party
The second annual Stars of IP party will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 from 8:00 PM to 1:00 AM at Local Edition, 691 Market Street, San Francisco, CA 94150. Stars of IP celebrates all things semiconductor IP and seeks to build relationships among IP provider companies and customers, thereby strengthening the ecosystem. The success of the inaugural Stars of IP event last year in Austin, Texas, established the party as an annual fixture at DAC. Due to popular demand, the party has more than doubled in size and sponsorship. Fourteen major IP industry players are co-hosting this year’s event alongside IPextreme: Adapt-IP, ARM, Atrenta, CAST, Certus Semiconductor, Constellations, DAC, Dassault Systèmes, Rambus, Semico Research Corporation, Sonics, Synopsys, True Circuits, and TSMC.
