26 May, 2014 -- Edgecam have set up a structured training course for carbide cutting tool manufacturer Seco.
Consisting of classroom-style training, Edgecam’s course was designed to provide Seco’s Technical Centre Customer Project Engineers with specific knowledge of basic milling, turning and Part Modeler.
Edgecam Strategic Partnership Manager Wesley Tonks says: “They are now using the knowledge they’ve gained through this training, to program more efficiently and effectively using Edgecam on in-house customer projects.
Seco and Edgecam already had what the software’s describes as a technical collaborative partnership, and Wesley Tonks says the training reinforces the message of being total solution providers. “Seco are advising customers not only about the best carbide cutting tools that are right for a particular project, but they are now in a more authoritative position to offer programming advice when visiting customers.
He says that training, overall, is becoming more vital across the manufacturing industry to compensate for a declining skill base. “People are being employed from non-manufacturing backgrounds and asked to undertake technical tasks.
“As solution providers it’s our responsibility to ensure manufacturers get the maximum value from their software and are competent and confident in their use.”
