Goldsboro, NC – May 20, 2014 -- Geographic Technologies Group (GTG) is proud to announce the release of the One City One Pride Story Map for the City of West Hollywood. Each year, the City of West Hollywood celebrates Pride month through the artistic contributions of the community with the One City One Pride Arts Festival. The arts festival includes a variety of community, visual art, theater/performance, and music events throughout the City. The City has developed an interactive story map using the City’s new Geographic Information System (GIS).
Utilizing the 5 STEPS to develop story maps, GTG worked with the City to develop an interactive map that highlights the scheduled programs of the One City One Pride Arts Festival. Residents and visitors can use the interactive map to locate programs that are happening around their neighborhood and across the City.
The One City One Pride Story Map was created by harnessing innovative online mapping technology to make government information easily accessible and improve the City’s communication with the public. GTG worked closely with Francisco Contreras, Innovations Liaison for the City, to harness the power of their existing GIS. Contreras said, “This is but one example of how innovation and technology are enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery by the City to its citizens.”
Matt McLamb, Project Manager for GTG, added, “Our close relationship with Esri has allowed us to be early adopters of the changing landscape in GIS. We’ve worked hand-in-hand with Esri from the start of ArcGIS Online at the local government level and it’s exciting to be at the forefront of what is happening in the world of GIS. There are communities all across the country that have a story to tell, and at GTG we’re helping them map it.”
