Bliss Devices’ Scryptr Mining Chip Sets a New Benchmark for Hashing Power Performance at the Lowest Total Cost of Ownership

Compared to the closest competing solutions, testing reveals an industry-best 4.8MH/s hashing performance per chip, while operating 60% more efficiently at an 18% lower cost per chip

SAN FRANCISCO — (BUSINESS WIRE) — May 5, 2014 — Bliss Devices ( http://www.blissdevices.com) announced today that testing on their new Scryptr mining ASIC has yielded performance results that achieve the best power-to-performance ratio of any chip on the market, while reducing the total costs of ownership through considerably lower power consumption and lower cost-per-chip acquisition.

"Our goal was to significantly improve upon the designs available today and push the limits of today’s advanced technologies, bringing the industrial mining market a solution that exceeds the expanding demands for both Scrypt-based and altcoin mining, while providing a lower total cost of ownership," said Paul Chen, Co-Founder and CEO of Bliss Devices. "The Scryptr chip test results have far surpassed our original targets.”

Testing of the Scryptr chip has yielded performance metrics between 4.5MH/s and 4.8MH/s, with only 18W of power consumption per chip. Bliss Devices will be offering standalone Scryptr chips, as well as chips mounted on Neon Mining Cards with various interface options such as PCIe/PCI, SPI, or USB (scalable up to 127 cards on a single USB backplane). Combined with its advanced architecture and cutting-edge 28nm technology, the Neon Mining card consumes an industry low 4.5W per MH/s, delivering the lowest power-to-performance ratio solution in the industry.

“Miners do ROI calculations based on (1) the price of hashing power (2) the cost to run it (3) and the ship date,” says Abram Kottmeier, Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer of Bliss Devices. “Miners want to know much hashing power they can buy and what the total cost of ownership will be. I think miners will be blown away when they see the results of our FPGA (field-programmable gate array used for prototyping) test next week.”

Today’s industrial miners require differentiated solutions to optimize their mining operations. Some want chassis-based solutions for datacenter locations, while others want custom configurations to optimize the use of their current infrastructure. Bliss Devices provides industrial miners of all types with the option to buy chips or complete system boards to fit their individual needs. Miners that wish to pursue custom system designs have access to many Neon mining card options, as well as the Bliss Devices Hardware Development Kit (HDK) which includes PCB reference designs and packaged software. Meeting the needs of even the most custom applications, Bliss Devices’ product portfolio offers the widest array of solutions with the highest performance at the lowest total cost of ownership for most large-scale miners.

While competitors and newcomers to the cryptocurrency market continue to miss delivery targets, Bliss Devices has expedited the availability date for its Scryptr chip and Neon Mining cards from October 2014 to August 2014 based on recent milestones in development. The team behind the design and development of the Scryptr chip at Bliss Devices include co-founders Paul Chen and Steve Zhang. Having taped out 8 highly-complex ASICs at Fortinet, a leading network security provider, both have a history in successfully bringing high-performance, next-generation chip designs to market.
