AltusWorks Selects e-SPECS for Crate & Barrel’s BIM Integrated Specifications

April 8, 2014 - InterSpec Inc., the industry-leader of BIM-integrated specification software and services, announced today that Chicago-based architecture firm, AltusWorks, has selected its patented e-SPECS software to coordinate BIM-integrated specifications for their client, international home furnishings giant, Crate & Barrel.

"e-SPECS is the best solution we found to integrate Crate & Barrel’s design preferences into a cohesive BIM design flow,” said Joakim Bäckström, a senior Architect at AltusWorks. “Our previous use of e-SPECS on non-BIM integrated projects has saved us time and money. We’re excited about taking the next step: utilizing e-SPECS BIM integration, collaboration, and master guide specification management for our clients.”

Crate & Barrel has been an advocate for the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) to improve project performance and outcomes.  e-SPECS is a BIM integrated solution enabling better design coordination, collaboration among project teams and on-demand access to information throughout design and construction phases.

Taking the lead in implementing this BIM Integrated Specification workflow, AltusWorks is employing e-SPECS software, along with Crate & Barrel master specifications, to ensure that early design coordination, use of client preferences and quality of product delivered are maximized.

“It is exciting to see our clients utilizing BIM integration and collaboration increasingly more on projects,” said Gilles Letourneau, InterSpec's Chief Technology Officer. “We are proud to see BIM implementation leaders such as AltusWorks and Crate & Barrel leveraging e-SPECS and our team at InterSpec Specification Services to meet the demanding challenges in today’s A/E/C industry."
