Membership Includes JGC Corporation and Toyo Engineering Corporation
TOKYO – Bentley Systems, Incorporated, the leading company dedicated to providing comprehensive software solutions for sustaining infrastructure, today announced the inauguration of a STAAD Foundation Advanced User Group in Japan. The new group’s membership will include leading engineering, procurement, and construction firms as well as design firms across the region. Among them is JGC Corporation, one of the world’s leading engineering contractors, and Toyo Engineering, a global leader in engineering and construction for industrial facilities.
Commenting on the new user group, Mr. Yukio Uchida, group manager, Technology Group, Civil and Building Department, Engineering Division, JGC Corporation, said, “The fact that the STAAD product family, which is widely recognized and employed around the world by our clients, encompasses foundation design is of significance to our work processes. Through our use of this software, I anticipate being able to rationalize our design work as we more effectively coordinate our foundation design practices for steel structures and our STAAD.Pro structural analysis and engineering workflows.”
He continued, “In addition, with this total solution, which includes vessel foundation design, it’s possible to coordinate with other 3D modeling applications and export to them detailed drawings and material lists. Though we would like to see additional refinements to the software to meet our specific requirements, the majority of these are already in progress. In addition, I look forward to future developments initiated by interactions among our user group members.”
Mr. Yasuhiro Masui, associate principal civil engineer, Engineering IT Center, Piping and Civil Engineering Division, Engineering Unit of Toyo Engineering Corporation, said, “STAAD.Pro has played a crucial role in establishing a standard for steel structural design work around the world. Currently, there is no such standard for foundation design, but we have great hopes that STAAD Foundation Advanced will assume the role.
“The requests submitted by our STAAD Foundation Advanced User Group in Japan are in the process of being implemented. Through this user group’s activities, we will support Bentley Systems in continuing to enhance this software. At the same time, we will employ what we learn through discussions with other members to review our company’s STAAD Foundation Advanced design processes.”
Mr. Santanu Das, Bentley senior vice president, design and simulation, said, “On behalf of my colleagues at Bentley, I heartily welcome this prestigious membership to the Bentley community of independently operated user groups around the globe. In addition to coming together to discuss and share information with each other across a variety of technical solutions, this group will also provide important feedback to the Bentley development team tasked with consistently enhancing STAAD Foundation Advanced’s innovative capabilities in keeping with changing user requirements.”
STAAD Foundation Advanced is a comprehensive foundation design program that offers the ability to model complex or simple footings, including those specific to plant facilities. The software provides a streamlined workflow through its integration with STAAD.Pro and can also be used as a stand-alone program. Efficient design and documentation are realized through its plant-specific design tools; multiple design codes with Japanese, U.S., and other international bar sizes; design optimization; and automatic drawing generation. Moreover, productivity is increased through the ability to utilize the structural model with the foundation model because of the software’s integration with STAAD.Pro. Changes made in the STAAD.Pro model are tracked and can be merged automatically with the foundation model.
