Interra Systems at NAB 2014

  • With New DPI Capability in Orion, TV Service Providers Can Leverage Money-Making Ad Slots

  • Baton Automated QC Solution Continues to Gain Momentum Worldwide

  • Vega Analyzer Adds Support for Next-Generation VP9 Standard

  • Quality Control Testing Paper to Be Presented Wednesday, April 9

CUPERTINO, Calif. - April 2, 2014 --- At the National Association of Broadcasters Show (NAB) April 7-10, 2014, in its booth SU7105, Interra Systems will demonstrate its newly-enhanced Orion real-time content monitoring solution with advanced Digital Program Insertion (DPI) capability. This capability allows video service providers to take advantage of available ad insertion opportunities to increase revenues.

Interra Systems will also demonstrate its industry-leading Baton automated content verification solution. This file-based solution implemented by broadcasters, post-production houses and other service providers for reliable, efficient quality control is integrated easily into any workflow.

The Vega video analyzer with expanded assessment and debug features for high definition VP9 will also be demonstrated. Vega tools help customers – such as videos developers, smart phone manufacturers and streaming media service providers – understand whether their products are creating properly encoded video streams for the delivery of high-quality, high-value images and sound. Vega significantly reduces R&D and QA time in delivering standards compliant media content.

Finally, Interra Systems product architect Shailesh Kumar will present a paper titled “Aspects of Video Quality Assessment for HEVC Compressed Content” on Wednesday, April 9 at 11:00 am in room S228 at the Las Vegas Convention Center as part of the Broadcast Engineering Conference Ultra High Definition Television track. Kumar has worked with a team of video specialists to uncover and share new insights into errors such as blockiness, blurriness and structural similarity in HEVC video streams.

Orion Demonstration Features Digital Program Insertion

Orion’s integrated monitoring platform isolates and identifies errors that may affect Quality of Experience (QoE) and Quality of Service (QoS). In addition to the new DPI capability, Orion specialists will showcase the product’s:

  • Audio and video quality monitoring

  • Closed Caption data monitoring

  • IP packet monitoring

  • Comprehensive, customizable error reports

Orion is used today by most innovative service providers such as VideoLink LLC, who use it for their Enhanced IP video transmission network. Orion monitoring and analysis tools provide VideoLink engineers with insight into transport streams and H.264 elementary streams, allowing them to efficiently isolate and resolve problems.

Orion detects and displays every cue / SCTE-35 message along with its complete syntax. The SCTE-35 cue messages encoded in the pre-insertion feed can be used to trigger recordings of the inserted programs in the post-insertion feed. The recordings can be used as a visible proof of program insertion for regulatory compliance.
