BANNOCKBURN, Ill., USA, March 25, 2014 — In recognition of his extraordinary contributions to IPC and the electronics industry, Michael V. Carano, director of new products and business development at OMG Electronic Chemicals, was honored with the IPC Raymond E. Pritchard Hall of Fame Award. Presented today at IPC APEX EXPO® at Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, the IPC Hall of Fame Award represents IPC’s highest level of volunteer recognition.
A long-standing IPC volunteer, Carano has served on 16 IPC committees, including the 8-40 Roadmap Executive Committee, the 7-20 Process Control Management Committee and the 4-14 Plating Process Subcommittee. In addition to serving on IPC’s Board of Directors, Carano has taken on a recent role as chairman of the IPC Technology Education Outreach Initiative.
Carano attended his first IPC Technology Market Research Council (TMRC) meeting in the early ‘90s and was immediately taken by the vast amount of market data and networking opportunities that IPC and the event had to offer. Since then, he has been a faithful attendee and volunteer for the association. Most recently, he served as TMRC Steering Committee chair, gathering industry thought leaders and experts for IPC’s new iteration of TMRC which was re-launched in September 2013.
Among his past recognitions, Carano received on Outgoing Chairman Award in 2003 for his leadership and service as chairman of the IPC Suppliers Council Steering Committee. That same year, IPC bestowed on him the IPC President’s Award for his leadership in IPC Long-Range Strategic Planning meetings, IPC Printed Circuits Expo technical program and service to the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Suppliers Council.
A published and prolific writer, he has written more than 150 technical articles and has presented numerous papers throughout the world. He is a frequent lecturer at IPC events and has consistently been rated as one of IPC’s best instructors.
“IPC is privileged to have Mike as an active member of so many committees and an active contributor to so many events,” said John Mitchell, IPC president and CEO. “This Hall of Fame tribute is in recognition of his nearly 30 years of diligent volunteer work, helping advance our industry and IPC.”
