Westwood, New Jersey – March 4, 2014 – During the 2014 JEC Europe show, March 11-13, 2014, Magestic Systems will be demonstrating groundbreaking new technologies for manual and automated composite manufacturing and inspection solutions.
Attendees who visit Magestic Systems at stand P42 in Pavilion 7.2 will have the opportunity to receive a thorough overview of the complete MSI portfolio of composite manufacturing solutions: design-for-manufacturing analysis (TruPLAN), hand layup (TruNEST/TruLASER View), ply kitting (TruKIT), inspection (TruIMAGE/TruINSPECTION), thickness control (TruPLY Compensation), automated fiber placement/tape laying (TruFIBER), and – new this year – forming (TruFORM).
“Composite manufacturers today are looking for a platform that can seamlessly integrate their design engineering department with their shop floor,” says Magestic Systems Director of Business Development, Massimiliano Moruzzi. “With the availability of multiple CAD packages, machine tools, and software apps in the market, end users must have access to best-in-class solutions for multiple processes and have them embedded in a single platform to minimize the costs and risks associated with constantly switching between software platforms.”
At JEC Europe, Magestic Systems will demonstrate the benefits of its vast composite manufacturing portfolio: TruPLAN, TruNEST Composites, TruLaser View Composites, TruFIBER, and TruFORM for mass production of composite parts.
TruPLAN is a design-for-manufacturing solution that allows composite design engineers to run multiple “what-if” scenarios to identify potentially costly defects while in the Conceptual Design and/or Detailed Design Phase. Composite engineers can assess the overall manufacturability of a part and understand the cost impact of defects like wrinkling, bridging, buckling, shearing, and gaps/overlaps before ever laying down any material. TruPLAN allows manufacturers to quickly test which manufacturing strategy or strategies will have the biggest effect on costs and production rates. By combining TruPLAN with TruFIBER, composite manufacturers have a completely optimized and automated design-to-manufacturing process flow. TruFIBER relies on the data collected in TruPLAN to generate precise and machine-independent NC programs for any that adhere to strict engineering and manufacturing requirements and produce reports for statistical analysis. The advanced manufacturing process zones available in TruFIBER allow programmers to control material feed rates, tension, compaction, and temperature in critical zones to ensure quality and production rates for even the most complex composite parts.
For a complete hand layup solution, Magestic Systems will be exhibiting TruNEST Composites and TruLASER View Composites, which are designed to optimize the ply kitting and layup processes. Both applications work together to provide a solution that can take in CATIA V5/V6, FiberSIM, STEP, DXF, and IGES file formats and process them for shop floor processes on any CNC Cutter and any brand of laser projector on the market today. At JEC Europe 2014, Magestic Systems will be introducing its CATIA V5/V6 embedded nesting solution. TruNEST Composites V5/V6 has always been the only solution capable of accessing native CATIA V5 data and processing it for cutting without requiring any secondary translation operations. Now, with the embedded solution, users can create, store, and manage nests for entire composite parts directly within the composite part tree structure. By embedding both TruNEST and TruLASER View in the Composite Part Design workbench, Magestic Systems offers the only hand layup solution that never requires you to leave the CATIA session to create data for the shop floor.
Finally, Magestic Systems will introduce a groundbreaking new technology for high-rate composite manufacturing called TruFORM. TruFORM is a multidisciplinary design/manufacturing analysis & simulation tool that provides designers and manufacturers with the capability to fully model and simulate composite material forming not only from a manufacturing process point of view but also from material impacts as well. TruFORM allows design engineers to visualize material distortions, wrinkling, strain, thickness variation, fiber deviations, inner ply connections that are critical pieces of information required to understand design and/or manufacturing feasibility. TruFORM enables design and manufacturing engineers to test different “Forming Process Strategies” to optimize material forming sequence to improve overall part quality. TruFORM makes it possible to analyze how best to optimize fiber layup direction for a flat charge before it will be formed in order to minimize fiber deviations, distortions, strain, and stretching during the forming phase. This is of the utmost importance for the mass production of composite parts for industries that rely on serial production rates to meet consumer demand.
