"The demonstration of LDW capability on the G2 APEX ICP core is the first in a growing list of APEX enablement for the Automotive ADAS market space," said Ray Cornyn, Vice President of Product Management for Freescale's Automotive Microcontroller Group. "CogniVue and our other APEX technology partners are accelerating the availability of support in this market place as we drive towards the Industries first "Safe & Secure" ADAS platform which Freescale will disclose later this year."
"We are pleased to announce this latest in a series of significant vision application milestones on G2 APEX technology," said Simon Morris, CEO of CogniVue. "We view our ability to provide meaningful higher level algorithms and application software demonstrations through our partners as a key competitive strength which our customers appreciate and benefit from."
Director of Automotive Applications at Neusoft Inc. Bobo Duan added, "Neusoft understands the importance of application software enablement for its customers and sees the value in CogniVue's support of ADAS demonstration development on APEX based chips."
In 2012, a major automotive OEM went to production with a rear camera using APEX and in 2013 a 2nd major OEM completed development of a smart rear camera application on APEX inside Freescale SCP220x. A dozen other automotive Tier1s and OEMs have active projects on APEX based ICP chips today including Zorg Industries which recently started production with its own after-market automotive rear camera for Audiovox and others. The momentum is building as DMP Inc of Japan recently licensed G2 APEX technology and additional semiconductor licensees are to be announced in 2014.
