LAS VEGAS, March 4, 2014 — (PRNewswire) — Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) announced today the release of its Trimble® TrimFleet™ Mobile for Android. The mobile app provides vehicle operators and contractors within the construction materials industry an easy-to-use interface, which can enhance the delivery experience and improve business processes for construction logistics operations.
The announcement was made today at ConExpo 2014, one of the world's largest international exhibitions for the construction industry.
The new TrimFleet Mobile for Android will be demonstrated at the Trimble Construction Logistics booth 61046 in the South Hall, the Trimble booth 11766 in the North Hall as well as the Jonel and Sysdyne booths.
The mobile app can be used on any Android smartphone or tablet, version 4.0 or later, and is currently being released to Trimble Construction Logistics customers using a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) or Company-Owned, Personally Extended (COPE) strategy with the final release slated for end of this month.
"Technology is changing the world around us and TrimFleet Mobile for Android is a positive reflection of the impact those changes can have on business operations today," said John Rice, general manager of Trimble's Construction Logistics Division. "With a BYOD or COPE strategy, our customers have more options and flexibility when it comes to fleet intelligence, tracking and communication platforms."
Using GPS technology combined with wireless/Bluetooth communication, TrimFleet Mobile for Android provides vehicle tracking with real-time updates on location and events, using a combination of automated geo-based statuses for arrive and depart site and driver-initiated statuses for load and unload events. The mobile app also provides ticket and delivery information with dispatch integration, DriverID for login and status updates as well as navigation, communication and electronic proof of delivery for ready-mix, aggregate, asphalt, cement and bulk material vehicles.
The Active Navigation feature in TrimFleet Mobile for Android allows users the option of selecting Trimble's CoPilot® Truck™ Navigation, a truck-specific GPS navigation solution that takes into account truck-restricted and prohibited roads to provide drivers with safe and reliable voice-guided directions on truck-legal roads. Using customizable truck dimensions for height, length, width and weight/axle weight, drivers can calculate the optimal route that is both safe and legal, to avoid costly fines and vehicle damage. CoPilot Truck is the only GPS navigation that offers the industry-standard PC*MILER truck-specific routing, featuring over 3.5 million commercial truck restrictions and allowances.
TrimFleet Mobile for Android also delivers unparalleled communication via two-way text messaging, Driver Initiated Messaging (DIM), voice-to-text and text-to-voice capabilities as well as Radio over IP (RoIP) voice calling between dispatchers and drivers—taking safe and reliable communication beyond the user's fingertips.
In addition to fleet intelligence, driver-safety, navigation and communication, TrimFleet Mobile for Android offers electronic proof of delivery with digital ticketing, signature capture and a time-stamped record of receipt with the option to print and/or email the final copy. This functionality allows businesses to operate more efficiently and improve billing and payment processes with real-time information.
To assist companies using a BYOD or COPE strategy, Trimble has teamed with AirWatch®, a world leader in enterprise mobility management. Trimble customers have the option of using AirWatch to manage content, applications, security and devices using TrimFleet Mobile for Android—facilitating a business solution that can improve workforce productivity while being simple to manage and deploy.
