MakerBot Digital Store Adds New 3D Printable Content

Dragons of Glastonbury Chessboard and Chunky Trucks Coloring Book

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — February 12, 2014 — The MakerBot Digital Store, the site for original, fun and collectible digital content for MakerBot Replicator Desktop 3D Printers, just got a bit more playful. Now available is a new Dragons of Glastonbury™ Chessboard and a Chunky Trucks™ Coloring Book. These two items are available for download directly from the MakerBot Digital Store and are ready for 3D printing and storytelling.

The MakerBot Digital Store launched in January at the International Consumer Electronics Show and has already become a popular destination for those interested in easy-to-3D print and assemble models. With the addition of the Dragons of Glastonbury Chessboard, made to look like a medieval stone castle, this Game of Kings can be won by either the white or black knights (or any color you choose to 3D print). Included in this downloadable purchase is also a screw-top topper to house the vanquished players. The Dragons of Glastonbury Chessboard is available for purchase for $9.99. The Chessboard is an extension of the original Dragons of Glastonbury Castle Set, which was launched back in January.

Also new this month is a Chunky Trucks Coloring Book. This is a free download designed to bring the 3D models of trucks and construction vehicles to life. The coloring book allows users to color outside the lines and get creative with how they would like to see their models work throughout the day.

“The launch of the MakerBot Digital Store was a very exciting venture for us that provides a place to obtain original, fun and collectible digital content that is verified to print easily and without supports,” noted Bre Pettis, CEO of MakerBot. “We are excited to be able to offer additional content to the MakerBot Digital Store just a month after its launch. I am proud of being able to offer this really cool castle chess set. By bringing the fun of 3D printing to an age-old classic game like chess, we hope to encourage more would-be Bobby Fischers to reclaim the Grandmaster title for the U.S.”

The MakerBot Digital Store provides a place that offers original, fun and collectible digital content directly to the end user. The MakerBot Digital Store is only available for the MakerBot fifth generation desktop 3D printers and the MakerBot Replicator 2 Desktop 3D Printer (fourth generation). In the MakerBot Digital Store, visitors can purchase high-quality, delightful, printable and paintable digital 3D models and collections. The models are MakerBot Verified to successfully print on MakerBot Replicator 2 and fifth generation MakerBot Replicator Desktop 3D Printers. The MakerBot Digital Store effectively turns a MakerBot Replicator Desktop 3D Printer into an in-home entertainment device and completely redefines the distribution channel: there is no packaging, no shelving requirements, no distributor/retailer mark-up, and the customer can print as many copies from the digital file as they desire. MakerBot has created the models so they do not require supports or glue. Pricing is based by individual digital 3D file (.x3g and .makerbot) or by the collection. Prices start at $0.99 per file or $9.99 for a collection, and are only available through the MakerBot Digital Store.

MakerBot Digital Store Series One Collections include: Around Town™, Chunky Trucks™, The Cosmic Cadets™, Dragons of Glastonbury™, Famous Flyers™ and PetPals™. For more information, visit makerbot.com/digitalstore.
