CHARLESTON, S.C. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — January 7, 2014 — Life Cycle Engineering, Inc. (LCE) today announced that it will offer a Lean Maintenance workshop through its education entity, the Life Cycle Institute. The Life Cycle Institute and industry expert Joel Levitt created the Lean Maintenance workshop in response to a rising demand for lean principles to be incorporated into maintenance practices of manufacturing entities.
Lean maintenance practices enable manufacturers to operate more efficiently at lower operating costs, resulting in decreased downtime. The three-day Lean Maintenance workshop is a hands-on experience that teaches participants how to uncover and eliminate waste as well as how to transition from traditional maintenance practices to a lean-maintenance operation. The Lean Maintenance course is ideal for manufacturing professionals that are closest to the source of waste such as, maintenance workers or operators. Supervisors will also benefit as they will lead and oversee waste reduction efforts. Participants will learn how to:
- Design Lean projects from beginning to end
- Develop strategies for gaining top management support
- Plan and execute projects for minimum resistance and maximum results
- Uncover and eliminate real waste in daily operations
- Reduce operating costs with effective Lean Maintenance practices
- Increase uptime and decrease maintenance cost
- Plan and schedule maintenance jobs for Lean execution
- Transform from a traditional maintenance operation to a Lean Maintenance operation
- Benchmark the performance of maintenance against peers within and across industries
Our goal with this workshop is to help our customers get out of the repetitive bad habits that negatively impact production, said Bill Wilder, director of the Life Cycle Institute. Joel Levitt and our high-impact learning experts designed the workshop for those in the trenches of manufacturing, the professionals doing maintenance and operations work every day, explained Wilder. Levitt has 25 years of experience in the maintenance field including process control design, source equipment inspection, electrical expertise, field service technician and maritime operations.
The first Lean Maintenance workshop is offered March 11-13, 2014 at Life Cycle Engineering in Charleston, SC. The registration fee is $1,495 per person and includes all course materials and lunch.
