The Q4 release includes a variety of features that provide increased developer flexibility when building interactive applications. This means an increased ability to tailor look and feel to a targeted user base. Key improvements include:
- Expanded Local Relevance attribute - Local Relevance provides a relative index of neighborhood importance based on social media and search behaviors. This can be used to refine searches and provide improved results based on how people truly identify with neighborhood boundaries and names.
- Editorial Control - a new attribute allows developers to filter potentially sensitive or less common neighborhood names. This is especially useful for businesses wanting control over how their brands are associated with certain names or terms.
"We continue to expand coverage with our latest neighborhood boundary update and additionally we're providing new features that enable users to customize applications and deliver an increased user experience," commented Urban Mapping President Ian White. "With our Local Relevance attribute for example, users can access our data to determine the top neighborhood names by relevance. In New York City you may have 300 neighborhood names, but it may make sense for a business to customize their application to key in on only the top 30, as determined by our index."
The neighborhoods database is available for license on premises as a stand-alone product or as part of Urban Mapping's Mapfluence embedded geographic technology. For organizations that want to deliver a compelling user experience, Mapfluence and its on-demand data catalog of over 10,000+ variables, is an invaluable source for building engaging applications.
