"Our relationship with Carbon enables rapid IP adoption," states Martin Lund, Cadence's senior vice president, IP Group. "Getting our IP integrated more easily into complex system-on-chip designs is a win for design teams because it can further accelerate their time to market. Carbon's accurate virtual prototype models and systems is the means in which to do so."
The goal of the partnership is to expand the value of the distributed models through additional speed enhancements, including Carbon's exclusive Swap & Play technology. This is intended to enable Carbonized models of Cadence IP to integrate fully into Carbon's unified virtual prototype solution and scale from 100s of MIPS performance to 100% accuracy.
Support is available currently for Carbon models and CPAKs that use the Cadence DDR3 memory controller.
As part of the agreement, Cadence and Carbon agreed to make all of Cadence's design IP models available on the Carbon IP Exchange ( www.carbonipexchange.com) web portal. The two companies plan to collaborate to produce additional Carbon Performance Analysis Kits (CPAKs) featuring Cadence IP. These models and CPAKs are intended to accelerate availability of accurate virtual prototypes for architectural analysis, performance optimizations and pre-silicon firmware development.
"Carbon has a long history of successful projects using Cadence's DDR memory controllers and Cadence Tensilica® processors," comments Rick Lucier, Carbon's president and chief executive officer. "Expanding our partnership builds upon this success and meets the rising demand for additional Cadence IP models we're seeing from designers worldwide."
Availability
Carbon's expanded portfolio of Cadence design IP is available now on the Carbon IP Exchange ( www.carbonipexchange.com) web portal. Additional models will be released and announced as the Cadence IP portfolio expands. Pricing is available upon request.
New CPAKs will be announced as they are available.
