Savigent Selected by Seagate for Fault Detection Solution

November 19, 2013, MINNETONKA, MINN. – Savigent Software, Inc., the Minnetonka-based company specializing in event-driven manufacturing operations management software, announced today that it has been selected by Seagate Technology to implement a significant number of the company’s continuous improvement initiatives including fault detection.

As part of the improvement effort, Savigent will deploy its Catalyst Platform. The platform focuses on automated data collection, fault detection and process classification designed to make the Seagate system more efficient, effective and economical.

Savigent’s Catalyst Enterprise Historian™ will deliver a comprehensive solution for Seagate’s wafer fabrication data collection, storage, contextualization and analysis. The system will serve as a common, centralized repository for key process input variables (KPIV) data for Seagate, providing a context-aware process data system, high-performance database for historical manufacturing information, and highly scalable and distributable data collection infrastructure. It is optimized to capture and store both time-series process data as well as event-based context data, yielding contextualized information about manufacturing equipment and processes.   The platform hosts controllers that use real-time data as well as historical data to build containment strategies including predictive analytics.

We selected Savigent as the platform provider for our tool data layer and fault detection because they continue to demonstrate technical innovation well beyond the options in the marketplace,” said Win Giles, Plant Manager Recording Head Operations at Seagate. “Access to real-time data across our factory tools is vital to us achieving the quality and operational effectiveness required to be a leader in this industry, and Savigent provides access to that crucial data.”

Savigent Software CEO David Wicker said, “We are pleased that Seagate has chosen us to provide their Fault Detection solution. We have partnered with Seagate for more than a decade and we truly value the relationship. This selection validates our commitment to providing a total manufacturing solution that delivers continuous quality improvement.”
