Japanese Manufacturers Say Edgecam’s Workflow “Awesome and Amazing”

November 14, 2013

Edgecam finalised three deals at the renowned Japanese Mechatronics Technology exhibition, with a number of strong leads also likely to be converted into customers.

Held in Japan’s industrial heartland, Nagoya, MECT is one of the country’s most important industrial exhibitions, attracting manufacturers, suppliers, and end-users of manufacturing automation products.

Akhiro Goto, Director of Edgecam KK in Japan, says: “Many of the industry’s leading names, such as Sandvik, Mazak, Okuma are DMG Mori are based in the area, so as well as meeting existing customers and potential new customers, the show gave us the opportunity to talk to our partners on their booths.”

Edgecam KK demonstrated how the new Workflow tools enable CAD/CAM engineers to apply toolpaths within seconds.  The new tools aid in loading and positioning the component, choosing the manufacturing method and suitable machine tools, adding user defined stock or stock from a database, importing fixtures, selecting a machine and toolkit, and managing strategies to automate manufacture.

“Visitors to our booth saw for themselves how Workflow really is changing the game for manufacturers. They commented on how Edgecam is extremely easy to use, especially with Workflow – we hear them saying ‘Awesome’ and ‘Amazing’ every time. It has become the standard response.”

Further major attractions were the software’s other recent game-changing innovation, Waveform Roughing, and its market-leading mill-turn capabilities.

Akhiro Goto concludes: “With the Japanese economy improving all the time, many visitors to the show were there for a specific purpose, mainly looking to invest in new machinery and state-of-the-art CAM software such as Edgecam, which takes those machines to the next level.”
