FabStream™ and Eagle Circuits form Partnership

Eagle Circuits added to FabStream’s Global Network of PCB Manufacturers for North America

Marlborough, MA – October 7, 2013 – FabStream® ( www.fabstream.com), the integrated printed circuit board (PCB) design and manufacturing solution developed by DownStream Technologies and targeted at the DIY electronics market today announced that Eagle Circuits ( www.eagle-circuits.com) has become the newest PCB manufacturer to join the FabStream network of global PCB manufacturers.

The companies are working together to create a customized version of FabStream’s SoloPCB™ Design Software which will be pre-loaded with Eagle’s manufacturing rules and pricing to help the user design, price and order their finished PCBs automatically and securely. By including Eagle’s manufacturing rules within the software, customers can more confidently design PCBs that can be built by Eagle’s manufacturing facility. This greatly reduces the possibilities of low manufacturing yields, delivery delays and lost opportunities.

“We see our partnership with FabStream as a natural extension of our one source, end-to-end manufacturing solution,” said Nilesh Naik, President of Eagle Circuits. “FabStream and the SoloPCB Design suite, including the extensive Digikey libraries, offer our customers a unique value added opportunity for rapid and low cost PCB prototyping. The FabStream solution combined with our one source approach allows Eagle’s customers to streamline their design/supply chain,” he added.

Eagle Circuits sees the combination of free PCB design software with low cost prototypes as a necessity for many DIY electronic enthusiasts to eliminate the barriers with creating electronic PCB systems. These customers tend to have very low design capacity so purchasing a commercial solution is difficult to justify financially. Naik explains further: “We see the DIY electronics market as a growing market sector where innovation and creativity are supported through multiple fronts from open source hardware, to software, services, and community. We believe the FabStream and Eagle partnership provides a strategic advantage to service this rapidly emerging end user.”

Eagle Circuits will support FabStream’s “Standard Construction” option where a customer can select a preset PCB construction. Designs created using this option can be “pooled” with other designs onto a single panel to help reduce the overall cost of fabrication. In turn the savings will be passed on to customers to create a very low cost design and manufacturing option. In addition, Eagle plans on offering a variety of full-feature manufacturing services including production of 1-16 layer boards in a variety of sizes, material thicknesses and technologies.

“We are very excited to be adding Eagle Circuits to our North American network of manufacturers,” explained Rick Almeida, Managing Director of FabStream. “Their understanding and support of the requirements of the DIY electronics engineer make them an integral part of the overall FabStream solution.”

FabStream and Eagle are planning the release of SoloPCB for Eagle Circuits to be available in the second half of 2013. The SoloPCB for Eagle Circuits design software will consist of schematic capture, PCB layout, 100K Digi-Key parts library, an integrated 16-layer autorouter as well as many design software features unique to FabStream. Both companies also have longer term plans to work together to provide a more complete eco environment as part of Eagle’s one source solution.
