University of Maine System Selects AiM(TM) From AssetWorks

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS -- (Marketwired) -- Jul 23, 2013 -- AssetWorks, a leader in intelligent workplace management, today announced it has secured a contract with the University of Maine System to provide a comprehensive integrated workplace management system (IWMS) intended to replace a legacy environment of four disparate management tools and numerous standalone Microsoft® Excel and Access databases. AiM™ from AssetWorks is expected to manage a broad swath of functions spanning operations and maintenance, space management, utilities management and capital planning.

Established in 1968 by Maine's state legislature, the University of Maine System consists of seven distinct public institutions of higher education. The System is comprised of over 600 structures on ten campuses and six research facilities covering a built environment of over 9.5 million square feet. AiM is expected to help a workforce of over 500 fulltime equivalents (FTEs) improve resource utilization, increase productivity and efficiency, improve decision support, enhance communication, and improve accountability and visibility across the System.

"Without question, this is an important win for us," said Ken Slaughter, Senior Vice President, AssetWorks. "In selecting AiM to provide the full spectrum of IWMS functionality, the University of Maine System is illustrative of a forward-thinking movement among public sector entities to consolidate key asset management functions under a single umbrella to improve visibility, accountability, transparency, and cost savings. Looking at the bigger picture, improving stewardship of facilities and real estate assets enables universities to improve the overall condition of their campuses making them more attractive to students and researchers. Along with stewardship, the cost savings from efficiency gains also has the effect of increasing the attractiveness of the institution to private investors."

AiM helps organizations reduce costs by promoting better oversight and utilization of facilities and real estate; eliminates management redundancies and proactively manages the workplace; ensures regulatory and fiscal compliance by providing auditable data and complete transparency to enterprise assets; and helps organizations realize their sustainability and business continuity goals.
