Hart Energy in another Lawsuit, This Time Accused of Fraud by American Energy Mapping

AEM Claims Oil and Gas Industry Publishing Giant Negligently Misrepresented Themselves

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas, June 6, 2013 — (PRNewswire) — American Energy Mapping (AEM) filed a lawsuit alleging that both Hart Energy Publishing and Hart Energy Mapping & Data Services committed acts resulting in Breach of Contract, Interference with Existing Contracts, Interference with Future Contracts, Breach of Fiduciary Duty, Negligent Misrepresentation, and Fraud.  "This is a case of David versus Goliath," said Damien Wolff, Owner of American Energy Mapping, "AEM is a small company being bullied by the larger competitor that we believe wants to rid themselves of the competition through malicious means."

The lawsuit, filed on May 7, 2013 (Case Number 13-05-04872) alleges that Hart Energy solicited the assistance of another person or company to pretend to be a valid client of AEM in order to "trick" AEM into providing competitor information that is protected by a signed license agreement which includes language preventing such activity from taking place.  "As a small, minority-owned business competing against these larger companies who, I believe, feel they are above the rules of fair play, I am shocked at the lengths some companies will go to prevent us from conducting business," said Mr. Wolff.

Mr. Wolff is concerned about how the lawsuit may affect AEM's business.  "We want to let the industry and our customers know that they can rest assured that AEM is still in business and is passionate about continuing to provide information through the oil and gas industry's first online Energy GIS data store.  We are dedicated to making sure that while facing what we believe to be unethical and predatory actions we will press on and continue to lead the energy data industry by providing quality data at reasonable prices."

As of the writing of this press release none of Hart Energy's companies had yet to file any response to AEM's lawsuit or file answer any of AEM's claims.
