ZWCAD+ Makes Ease on CAD Designer for Tough Raster Image Operations

GUANGZHOU, China — (BUSINESS WIRE) — June 5, 2013ZWCAD+ 2012 SP2, the latest update of ZWCAD+, enables a more fluent and accurate image processing with a brand new image engine. Many improvements including higher display speed, operation fluency and image cache batch processor have been made to improve display quality and deliver new designs more quickly. Designers will find it beneficial and useful especially when they need to use large images repeatedly.

New Image Engine to Support Larger Raster Images

“For the previous versions of ZWCAD+, we received some suggestions on image processing," said Daniel Huang, Product Manager of ZWCAD+. “This has revealed the market demand for higher image processing capabilities, especially from designers who need to attach raster images for project visualization and evaluation. That’s the reason and motivation why we decided to make some fundamental improvements on our image engine.”

Based on their customers’ feedback and market demand, ZWCAD+ managed to introduce a new image engine which enables more flexible handling of large images and more fluent operations.

Loading Raster Image More Efficiently

Loading image data into memory or hard disk are two major ways to process images. The traditional way of loading image data into memory may have advantages in the opening speed of the image, but it is temporary and takes time to reload when this image is used again. Moreover, the image size is limited by the memory capacity. As the designers repeat the loading process for hours, the image continually fills up the computer's memory and slows down their operation speed.

In ZWCAD+ 2012 SP2, what used to take designers minutes to reload is now taking only a few seconds by using a new way to save image data. Loaded into the hard disk at the first insertion, image data can remain for a long time, which enables image reuse quickly without reprocessing. Since the hard disk is much bigger than the memory, even images that are over 1 GB can be displayed smoothly without any lag.

To further speed up image processing, ZWCAD+ provides a convenient tool named Image Cache Batch Processor to help design bulk-import raster image. It allows designers to generate cache files for multiple images before they start to work. This can greatly reduce the processing time when these images are invoked in drawings.

Faster and Smoother Image Operation

Designers will find large image processing much easier with enhanced raster image. When you pan the drawing, ZWCAD+ either hides the image or decreases the quality temporarily to reduce memory consumption. As long as you stop panning, the image reappeared instantly and clearly. Other operations such as Preview, Insert and Zoom In/Out are also at a very high speed. Since ZWCAD+ reads image files as pyramidal structures using cache files and image segmentation, the image can always be displayed at its best quality according to different image scales, balancing quality and performance. Whenever designers need to handle large raster images, the new image engine integrated in ZWCAD+ can carry out the most suitable result and hide those that are not currently in use to increase performance.
