Two stage differential amplifier boasts industry leading linearity and power for DOCSIS3.1 reverse path applications
COLOGNE, Germany — (BUSINESS WIRE) — June 4, 2013 — M/A-COM Technology Solutions Inc. (MACOM), a leading supplier of high performance analog semiconductor solutions, introduced today at the ANGACOM 2013 Exhibition and Congress, a highly linear two stage differential amplifier for DOCSIS3.1 reverse path infrastructure applications.

The MAAM-011122 is an integrated two stage differential variable gain amplifier designed specifically for CATV head-end, and system amplifier infrastructure reverse path applications. This multi-chip module VGA leverages leading edge technologies providing best in class linearity and high output power. This enables customers to achieve 36dB MER for 64 QAM modulation with 39 channels at 52 dBmV per channel. Unlike the competition, this device offers a power down function for each of the amplifier stages allowing reduced power consumption (green operation), when less gain is required. This configurability makes the MAAM-011122 an ideal solution to replace legacy Silicon and GaAs solutions for upcoming DOCSIS3.1 upgrades.
“The MAAM-011122 greatly simplifies reverse path system design by integrating 39dB of Gain with 31.5dB attenuation range in a single 7mm plastic QFN package,” said Graham Board, Product Manager. “This part will help future proof systems by covering existing reverse path frequencies along with the new DOCSIS3.1 requirements. The VGA delivers high linearity at an efficient 2.2W, making it ideal for compact amplifiers and high density head-ends.”
